It's not often I feature a real person in this strip, but the 100th edition of my weekly geeky webcomic demanded something special.

I also decided to colour it myself, for the first time ever.

As some of you may or may not be aware, I write and draw a weekly webcomic entitled 'Geekz', revolving around an email-based IT support helpdesk (and in no way at all influenced by my own experiences of working on an email-based IT support helpdesk).

I was going to post a link to the latest strip here, but thought it might make more sense to post the very first one, just so innocent passers-by and the morbidly curious can see what it's all about. Warning: some extreme, hardcore tech talk is contained within. (Recommended for those who know the difference between a Maverick Meerkat, and Aleksandr Orlov.)

So here's page 1 - you can easily navigate through the others via the buttons at the top of the page: http://www.2laugh.com/comic_Geekz.php?fileID=1&file=Strip-1garth-spam1.jpg

In the early days, 'Geekz' was coloured by my transatlantic colleague in webcomic crime, Jeff Swenson (see: http://www.freethunk.net/ for those of a non-religious persuasion), because it looked nicer. These days it's rendered in monochrome, and is therefore pleasingly in keeping with all things 'lo-fi', 'indie' and 'underground' (viz. unsophisticated).

Has anybody noticed that despite the proliferation of automated spell-checkers, grammar checkers and so forth in free and online text editing programs and applications, that the overall general standards of literacy (especially in spelling and punctuation) appears to be in terrifyingly sharp decline?

I work daily with emails received from allegedly professional businesspeople and if the standards of their electronic communications is any indication, then it's no surprise that British business seems to be doing rather badly!

Been a good few years since I last bothered to look at this site, and a lot of things have changed in that time - including me. Decided it best to scrap the old account and start with a new one, tailored to the things I like and do these days, while catching up with friends along the way.
